Overview:

We are looking for a committed and empathetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. As a DSP, you will have a direct impact on the lives of those we serve by assisting with daily living activities, promoting mental and physical well-being, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care Assistance: Support clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and other personal hygiene needs to maintain dignity and comfort.

  • Meal Preparation: Assist with meal planning and preparation, including feeding clients as needed.

  • Medication Management: Remind clients to take medications as prescribed and provide assistance with medication administration under supervision.

  • Mobility Support: Aid clients with walking, transferring, and using mobility devices like wheelchairs or walkers to enhance their independence and safety.

  • Companionship: Engage in meaningful conversations, activities, and social interaction to help improve clients' mental well-being and quality of life.

  • Home Management: Perform light housekeeping duties, such as laundry and cleaning, to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for clients.

  • Transportation Assistance: Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and outings, ensuring they have reliable support.

  • Monitoring Health Status: Observe and report changes in the client's physical or behavioral health to supervisors and healthcare professionals.

  • Documentation: Accurately document care activities, observations, and any changes in client conditions to ensure quality care and compliance with regulations.

Skills and Qualities Needed:

  • Compassion and Empathy: Genuine care and understanding for individuals with disabilities or health needs.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.

  • Patience and Positive Attitude: Maintain a calm, supportive demeanor in all situations, ensuring clients feel respected and understood.

  • Effective Communication: Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and non-verbally with clients, their families, and the healthcare team.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on following care plans, completing tasks thoroughly, and documenting client information accurately.

  • Knowledge of Personal Care: Basic understanding of hygiene, infection control, and safety protocols to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience in healthcare, caregiving, or a similar field is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to pass background checks and required certifications.
